Wendy Mayer is a Welsh artist who graduated with a first class honours degree in sculpture from Loughborough University School of Art in 2008.
Her sculptures are a compelling mixture of surreal portraits which are often presented through the medium of dolls and toys. Much of her work is autobiographical.
In 2010, she was elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art and the Royal British Society of Sculptors (Bursary Award) where she is now an Associate Member. She was elected to The Welsh Group in June 2011. Her work has been widely exhibited across Wales; in the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, St David's Hall, Cardiff, the National Eisteddfod of Wales and the Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
Wendy presented her first London solo show with Charlie Smith London in April 2012. Her work has been exhibited at the London Art Fair, Basel Art Fair, the Saatchi Gallery, the Royal College of Art and the Gwynedd Art Museum. Her work has been placed in the Saatchi and the DeWoody collections as well as several international private collections and is represented by Charlie Smith London.
This work was exhibited in New Order: British Art Today at the Saatchi Gallery in 2013-2014.
