Esme Dollow's contemporary still life painting explores ideas of nostalgia and the everyday, focusing on the visual qualities of familiar or desirable objects. By portraying these often solitary items with open or ambiguous backgrounds, she aims to displace them from their usual contexts to produce an intimate and emotive representation.
Esme completed her Fine Art degree at Coventry University in 2015 and was awarded the university’s Jane Sutton Award for her emerging painting and drawing practice. Since being selected for graduate art shows FloatArt London, 2015 and New Art West Midlands 2016, she held her debut solo exhibition while Artist in Residence at North London Collegiate School, and has exhibited her artwork in group shows throughout the UK including The Lynn Painter Stainers Prize 2016, Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, 2017 and INSIDE ART: London, at Christie’s Auction House, 2018.
Her paintings are held in private collections around the UK and US, as well as in Coventry University and North London Collegiate School collections.
