Nicola Morland's artwork is always focuses on "minimalism, femininity, and expression."
She is fascinated by "the distinctive yet subtle contours of the female form". Nicola works with the most stripped back components and features of the human face and body to express a range of emotions: loneliness, boredom, lust, disapproval and ecstasy.
Using bold geometric lines paired with loose brushstrokes, she experiments with slight modifications in the angles, intensities of the curve and lengths of the lines to alter the viewer's perception of the figure's appearance, emotion and character. These stripped-back portraits are at once abstract and identifiable.
Nicola has a background in graphic design and lives and works in London.
Nicola has two works in The Summer Auction. Her other work can be found here.
