Notes

"This particular painting is part of a series of doorways that open from an observation of a real doorway in to a world less recognisable beyond. They see me working within a boundary of representation and abstraction.

In my current work I explore experience and memory through the act of drawing and painting. I use the material qualities of paint to investigate why a particular place, image or memory has meaning for me, and what that meaning might be.” - Joshua Armitage, 2021
