"The idea of painting with photography fascinates and inspires me greatly.

I use my hands the same way for both methods; but instead of paint I use light to sculpt the photograph from the negative.

A scene is captured in a split second — but it is in the darkroom, I am able to expand on the reality I want to reveal; it is here the familiar becomes alien and reveals new ways for me of seeing reality.

In my paintings I enjoy observing the colours communicate across the canvas; a map of temperaments starts to surface as the paint glides, hugs, pinches as it teases the composition to life".
