Anja Hessler is a German-British artist and designer currently based in Ramsgate, UK. She creates one-of-a-kind contemporary mobile sculptures and objects from metal, acrylic and wood.

Minimalism and Design as Art play a dominant role in her artistic practice, drawing inspiration from the Modernism movement and in particular the Bauhaus aesthetic and its focus on minimalist design and craftsmanship. Her work explores the theme of opposites, celebrating the preciseness of geometric forms fused with organic textures and materials.

“I love the physical interaction and tactility of working with metal, how it responds to the rhythm of the body. The expression of my movement and state of my mind is all visible and makes each piece unique. More recently I have started to explore combining metals with locally found driftwood, to create an exploration of geometric shapes fused with organic textures. I aim to deepen the viewers' connection to the artwork, inviting them to explore the intricate relationships between materials, movement, balance, and the ever-present textures of nature."

Her work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions and art fairs in the UK and across Europe and is held in several private collections in the UK, Europe and US.

She has been named by Saatchi Art as 1 of 23 artists to collect in 2023.
