Aaron Turner (United States, b. 1990), Things U Do, 2018
Arkansas-based photographer and educator Aaron Turner creates experimental photographic works that explore history, identity, and Blackness as material. Turner is interested in the chemical alchemy of darkroom printing and often appropriates archival images using a range of historical and contemporary processes to create dynamic abstractions.

He received numerous fellowships and recognitions, including the Light Work Artist-in-Residence at Syracuse University (2018), EnFoco Photography Fellow (2019), Visual Studies Workshop Project Space Artists-in-Residence (2020), Artist 360 Mid-America Arts Alliance Grant Recipient (2020), Houston Center for Photography Fellowship (2021), Creators Lab Photo Fund from Google’s Creator Labs & the Aperture Foundation (2021), and Darryl Chappell Foundation photographer-in-residence at Ogden Museum of Southern Art (2022).
