Dave Benett “This is the first time I photographed Mick Jagger as he left the 100 Club in Oxford Street, after playing with the rest of the boys for a charity gig, for their ex-band member Ian Stewart, who was always known as the sixth Stone. It was the first time they had played in public for years and were finally about to tour again on the Steel Wheels Tour”.
Dave Benett began his career in the Seventies, specialising in news and sports photography before concentrating exclusively on the London party scene. During his forty year career, Dave has created over 1,000,000 entertainment images for the leading UK national newspapers of all the biggest names on the planet today, ranging from HRH Queen Elizabeth II to the Queen of Pop, Madonna. He’s responsible for some of the most iconic pictures of the past thirty years, from Liz Hurley in that Versace dress to Liza Minnelli and Princess Diana enjoying a night out together. Because of the exclusivity of his imagery, Dave is a regular contributor to the pages of high fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Tatler, as well as the chief entertainment photographer of the Evening Standard.
