Notes

A charcoal drawing with such a rich sense of tone and perspective, it is hard to believe it isn't a photo.

Jemma Appleby's drawings amplify each of her subjects simplicity and purity. The clean minimal spaces offer little information, yet carry an incredible sense of authority and magnitude.

By providing no narrative to the image, the artist uses the familiar architectural spaces to encourage the memory, knowledge and experience of human space.
