Hum London's Story
Hum London is a creative partnership between sisters Hermione and Ellie Gee who in 2020 launched their lighting brand best known for its hand painted lampshades and limited edition designs.
Born out of a lifelong love of soulful lighting, Hum London's painted lampshades can transform a simple space, or equally, work harmoniously with more layered and eclectic interiors. From ginghams to stripes and gemstone trims, our core collection of lampshades are painted in soft, warm colours and patterns. We also offer a bespoke designs service, which can mean anything from painting shades in alternative colours to creating totally new designs for our clients.
Putting to good use a shared love of antique pieces and passion for giving new life to old treasures, last year marked a new chapter for the brand - designing limited edition releases of lampshades made from reworked antique and vintage fabrics. The first in this series, the Prairie Lampshades, are made using hand embroidered textiles dating back to the 18th century, which received the Innovation Award from English Home Magazine in their 2024 New Years Honours for the soft, dappled light that gets cast into a room.
Handmade in the UK
With quality and mindful production at the heart of everything we do, the lampshades are all made by hand in England. We work with some of the best lampshade suppliers in the country, who've spent decades mastering their craft, to ensure premium quality across all of our products.
