Harmony Korine was born in North Coast, California in 1973. He is an American artist most known for his work as a film director and screenwriter. The often shocking content and experimental methods of his work earned him early notoriety and critical praise. His films include Kids (1995); Gummo (1997); Julien Donkey-Boy (1999, written and directed by Korine); Ken Park (2002); Mister Lonely (2007); Trash Humpers (2009); and Spring Breakers (2012). Korine has been included in two exhibitions presented by Vito Schnabel in New York: DSM-V, curated by David Rimanelli, presented at the Farley Post Office in 2013; and First Show / Last Show, at the Germania Bank Building in 2015. Most recently, Korine’s movies and artwork were the subject of a retrospective at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Korine lives and works in Nashville, TN and Miami, FL.
