Notes

This paper collage by Danish artist Katja Angeli was selected for the prestigious Bloomberg New Contemporaries emerging art show in 2019.

Katja's 'Pinups' series begun in 2019. The title riffs on 'the female pinup' or female nude as defined traditionally by male artists. It also alludes to something informal related to playfulness and the fluidity of forms.

Referencing the human body, fluid forms and play, Katja's creative practice is rooted in drawing, collage and appropriation. Her compositions play on the slippage between figuration and abstraction. Inspired by art history and popular culture alike, Katja's works are at once subversive and humorous.
