Notes
“The painting was created over a number of weeks, changing and involving many layers and materials. At one point I found my toddler had scribbled over some of the collage scraps with pink pen, some of these scribbles are still visible. It felt relevant to keep these frenetic marks in the end composition after many afternoons walking and playing in the park with my two year old, collecting conkers, acorns and big red and yellow leaves. The changing season from Summer to Autumn is a rich mix of sunlight and colour, bright and bold elements that call out the beginning of the end. Autumn is a transitional time, a final chance to celebrate the sunshine before the winter takes hold.” - David Shillinglaw, 2021
David Shillinglaw makes works in his studio in Margate and is also a street artist working on murals and large scale.
"David Shillinglaw's works are a powerful and fresh interpretation of everyday reality. His art has the appeal of Pop but a friendly, subtle, self effacing Pop that presents the ordinary and delights the viewer when he shows that you have your best conversation with yourself". -Jaybo Monk
