Sooyoung Chung is a Korean painter who completed her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2018. She lives and works in London.

Recognisable objects and paraphernalia litter Sooyoung Chung's work in a stark dreamscape. Whilst these objects reflect the artist's experiences, a kind of biography in possessions, they also speak to our collective memory of popular culture and every day existence. 

Sooyoung Chung was a finalist in the Graduate Art Prize in 2018, and in 2017 the Griffin Art Award, Hix Art Award and Sunny Art Award. In an article in the Telegraph, the artist's was praised for her considerable popularity at their degree show (35 artworks sold).
