Notes

Shed is part of a series of paintings that focus on scenes of fictional spaces. James Moore explains, "I’m interested in the effects that occur when a painting depicts something highly artificial, such as a diorama or a computer game. In this case, a bowling green near to my studio seemed to offer the ideal formal artificiality to explore in a painting. It has become a document of something that no longer exists - the green club house was destroyed by fire not long after I painted it, and the site has since been built over with new houses."

James Moore studied BA Fine Art at Manchester School of Art and MA Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art.  Currently based in Cardiff, recent exhibitions include Into a Light at the Saatchi Gallery, Sea Fever at Hoxton Arches, BEEP Painting Prize in Swansea, The National Eisteddfod in Cardiff, Twice as Nice at PS Mirabel in Manchester, and London Art Fair 2018.
