Notes
Dominic Beattie lives and works in London. His exhibitions often combine modernist furniture and abstract, pattern-based paintings. Described as having an 'anti-digital aesthetic', Beattie uses non-traditional materials such as marker inks, tape, household paint, spray paint, stickers, collaged paper to create geometric work.
He says of his work, "I tend to make things that approximate the modernist aesthetic in some way. I deliberately avoid trying to express any concepts, I work in a visual realm and I prefer the viewer to decide what they are looking at."
Beattie's exhibitions include, Studio solo at FOLD Gallery, London in 2015, New Order II: British Art Today at the Saatchi Gallery, London in 2014, and Creekside Open 2015 selected by Lisa Milroy and Richard Deacon at APT Gallery in London in 2015. He has also exhibited work at Warrington Museum and The Hospital Club.
In 2015 he won the UK/Raine prize for painting at The Saatchi Gallery, and his work was recently featured in Ambit magazine issue 224.
Beattie graduated from Camberwell College of Art, London in 2004.
