Aleph Contemporary for AccessArt
19 NOVEMBER 2021 - 17 DECEMBER 2021Notes
The works were created specifically for the recent solo show "Tratteggi anacronistici" that focused on the exploration of the artistic past which was used as a pretext to investigate how the context in which we live is fundamental not only to define our values, but more generally to determine the interpretation and - through it - the construction of reality. These premises were explored through the theme of anachronism considered in its broadest, not only in its most commonly understood form - temporal - but also spatial and conceptual.
The works bring together elements from different contexts, from the history of painting, popular culture, advertising, and other types of visual communication. These coexist in a fragmentary and unsolved way, underlining the similarities and differences between them. Through the collision of historical and fictional moments, the elements are pushed out of their comfort zone and their narrative and history are questioned. In this way, their connotation is challenged and made visible how often their usual context shapes and dogmatizes their meaning. The underlying thought is the self-referentiality of different visual languages and the possibility of meaning that can open up once the loop of habit is suddenly broken.
