‘Heckel’s Horse Jr.’ is an alias used by the British painter, Edgeworth Johnstone. Since early 2022 he has used this name for a series of works based on his collaborations with Billy Childish. Johnstone and Childish have been making paintings together at Chatham Dockyard in Kent since 2013, under the alias ‘Heckel’s Horse’.

‘Heckel’s Horse Jr.’ works from his home studio in Muswell Hill, London. Since his early teens, Johnstone has played the guitar and sung in various bands. He began making visual art in 2005, aged 28. Johnstone has not received formal training. Five of his drawings were exhibited in Exhibition #2 at Tate Modern. His collaborations with Childish have been shown at Pushkin House.
