Paul Housley (b. 1964) is an acclaimed figurative painter who over a forty-year career has documented the transformations of high and low cultural life in Britain with searingly inventive compositions that interrogate how we consume culture, and how culture is mediated to us in art, cinema, literature, and the public sphere. In his paintings, Housley often pushes the legibility of the human figure to extremes while always maintaining an uncompromising empathy for his subjects and their environments. His work has been exhibited at over 50 galleries and museums worldwide, his most recent solo exhibition Discpline of Ecstasy (2024) was at Cedric Bardawil.
