01 APRIL 2022 - 25 APRIL 2022Notes
‘Enticing yet inaccessible due to the nature of their medium, figurative works seek pleasure, both in the act of painting as well as its various appearances. Fluctuating from fading, fleeting first impressions to a toiled and layered surface, brushwork and immediacy are the starting point through which the subject matter — selectively quoted and appropriated from a variety of different sources — is investigated and reframed on canvas. The idea of ‘finished-ness’ is of particular importance, as, with each brushstroke, the desire for description and the gratification of the act of painting are negotiated.’ - Marcos Wolodarsky
Marcos Wolodarsky is imminently graduating from Slade School of Fine Art, UCL. His work has been featured in print at the Savage and Era Journals, with an upcoming interview detailing the process behind his practice more closely. He has been a participant of the residency programme at the Changing Room Gallery, and has been featured in ‘Port Of Call’ and a two-person exhibition, ‘A Short While After’. In 2021, Marcos was selected for the Cyprus College of Art Summer Residency. In May 2022, his works will be exhibited at the Slade degree show.
