‘The “Fitting”, part of the series “Child/Bride, ” was developed from my research on Turkish fringe phenomena where child brides are offered to be married.’ – Lorena Levi
Lorena Levi is a Turkish narrative portrait painter. Her creative practice is fundamentally research based. She uses the internet, taking part in chat room sites where she speaks to strangers, seeking inspiration for her paintings. Lorena combines found imagery with visuals of her own to create compositions that display an imagined record of reality, where the viewer only sees a snapshot of what is true.
Lorena Levi graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2021. She holds an MA in Fine Art and is the recipient of the Astaire Prize. At the moment, Levi works in V.O curations. She has exhibited widely will Mall Galleries and Fitzrovia Gallery in London. In 2023, Levi’s works will be shown at the RSA New Contemporaries exhibition.
