Paintings in Hospitals

The charity Paintings in Hospitals is delighted to be working with the Auction Collective to offer exclusive work from our collection.  Every penny from sales will go to the charity to ensure that it continues to positively impact the lives of patients, carers, the socially isolated, and communities across the country.

The charity’s work started in 1959 and its collection of artwork is still the only international art collection put together for health and wellbeing.  From our programme of exhibitions in hospitals to our projects in libraries, care homes and hospices our work touches the lives of over 2 million people a year.

“I’m currently receiving radiotherapy at the hospital, and I wanted to let you know how lovely it is to have the artworks in the waiting area. It reminds me that there is a life beyond cancer treatment and it improves the hospital experience.”

Hospital Patient.

“I don’t know how I would have coped. I’ve lost my second life partner, and I was going downhill. But they’ve given me another reason for living. I’ve even got a new hobby – they told me that I could draw. And I didn’t know how good I was.”

Pat, participant, Oasis project.

“A painting in A&E takes me to a different place. I thought you should know that your work not only helps the ill get better, it helps the well stay well.”

Police Officer, visiting Clan Clwyd Hospital, Wales.

The Funds raised from this auction will support the charity’s work and its partnership with patients, service users and carers and through art activities and creative workshops which provide the skills and confidence for them to make informed decisions about art, their care environment, and their care experience.

“This led me to thinking that, although patients and staff benefit from the art, it is people isolated at home who really suffer from the lack of an aesthetic environment, whether to soothe or stimulate, even at a subliminal level.”

Joanna Brendon, Founder, Oasis Project.
