Art Makes Lives Better (60/64)

Notes

Tom Jones (1936-2017) was born Colwyn Bay, 1936. Studied at the University of Liverpool. Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was a painter, architect and printmaker and was elected a Member of the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA) in 1996. The RCA hosted his retrospective exhibition in 2019. As an architect, Jones featured buildings in most of his work. He mastered many different techniques using pastel, oil painting, watercolour, and in his later years etching and print. His work features paintings from favourite locations in North Wales, Northumberland and Venice and Menorca, Spain. He takes a steer from some of the masters too, as it’s clear to see the palette knife sweeps of Van Gogh in his oil landscapes and more delicate watercolours in Ruskin’s style for his streetscapes in Venice.
