Art Makes Lives Better
11 SEPTEMBER 2023 - 27 SEPTEMBER 2023Notes
Alex Lumley was born in 1958 and studied at the Central School of Art and Design and at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts. During her childhood she developed a love of the English landscape, an interest in drawing and a very strong sense of observation. As with all accomplished landscape painters, Alex demonstrates an ability to communicate with her public. This is born out of her ability to lay down with feeling the relationship between form and light.
Alex's paintings indicate a natural flair for colour and texture which are captured with affection and great sensitivity. Her interpretation of the coastline or landscape has a fluid refreshing quality. It is hardly surprising that over the course of her career she has exhibited with a number of well-known London galleries and her work has been featured in many books and magazines including, The Artist, Artist and Illustrator and A Private View, David Wolfers and the New Grafton Gallery. She has won the John Adams Fine Art Award and is a member of the Royal Society of British Artist.
