Notes

Jasia Szerszynska was born in London in 1955, graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in 1977. She went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Art at Goldsmith College London in 1986. Szerszynska's works are driven by observations of her surroundings, animating natural textures, human figures and man-made objects with minimal, quasi-stylised forms and designs. Szerszynska has exhibited extensively throughout the world, while also lecturing at a number of international universities. She has held solo exhibitions in Kyoto, Hong Kong and London and in 1998 was the recipient of the British Council Visual Arts Grant. Szerszynska continues to work from her London studio where, alongside works on paper, she produces commissions for textile and carpet designs. Jasia has shown in Hong Kong, Tokyo and throughout Europe and is in the collections of Manchester City Art Gallery, British Council Japan, Courtaulds PLC, Bank of England, Galileo UK.
