Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
My painting practice is rooted in observation and inspired by the landscape and my immediate environment. I find my source material from my everyday experience on long walks through the city and the countryside taking photographs and saving the locations to search online back in the studio.
Working intuitively, flat planes of colours are quickly applied with immediate bold brushworks and each painting is worked out directly on the surface.
The photograph ultimately becomes the reference for each composition and is taken through the different seasons. The image is often cropped or partially rendered in such a way that it leaves room for the viewer to carefully observe and to embark upon their own interpretation of the artwork.
You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.
