About
With specific references to London, my work focuses on the social relationships experienced by young adults in metropolitan environments. Using highly produced fashion dolls from the 2000s as a source of figurative inspiration, the reimagined ‘dolls’ in my paintings build off of popular beauty standards and turn them into horror. Long necks, boney fingers, and vibrant eye bags are important features in my work, as they show the contrast between being young and stereotypically ‘beautiful’, while also feeling exhausted and worn out; like an overused toy.
