04 NOVEMBER 2021 - 25 NOVEMBER 2021Notes
About
In my early career I focused on my life and those around me, seeking out the quintessential
ordinariness of everyday life to create figurative interiors inspired by my tenement flat in Glasgow.
I was also a member of the Victorian Arlington Baths and produced two exhibitions using
In search of a new challenge I successfully applied to be Artist in Residence at Edinburgh Zoo with the help of a Scottish Arts Council Grant; I produced “Urban Zoo’ , an exhibition of paintings, photography and sound.
Several trips to Italy sometimes on holiday sometimes grant assisted resulted in exhibitions
featuring atmospheric Italian interiors and landscapes.
I recently completed a project with Scottish Canals as their first Artist in Residence funded by Creative Scotland. I walked and painted along the 137 miles of the Scottish canal network. So far the “Gongoozler” paintings have been exhibited in Glasgow, Falkirk, Linlithgow, Coatbridge, and Inverness.
I work mainly in oils but have recently been experimenting with mixed media and watercolour on paper.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
These small postcard watercolour paintings are studies for larger oil paintings. During lockdown I was drawn back to interior figurative work and thinking about what "Home" means to us. My husband has been working from home since the pandemic began, I have painted him at his desk "Home Office". "Bath by Candlelight" is a self portrait and "Pensive Girl" is a portrait of friend's daughter.
