Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

I've submitted works that explore themes of water, sewage, pool-wear, love, leisure and nectar gathering. I am particularly interested in the slow and picturesque collapse of the human race.

Card 1. Now Please Wash your Hands In this hard-hitting image I'm addressing the cold-water-wild-swimming craze which has gripped middle England in recent times. It used to be just called 'Swimming' but now sounds more exciting and IS thanks to the addition of perilous quantities of sewage that Southern Water playfully pump into my local seas to increase their shareholder dividends and add some jeopardy into this otherwise healthy pursuit.

Card 2. Versace Slider This is based on an actual live incident, where one summer I was reclining poolside and in my relaxed state I could swear I saw the face on the impressively flashy Versace slider belonging to the occupant of my neighbouring sun lounger actually sneer at my humble flip-flop. In this moment I thought I had a simple and concise expression of the Haths, Hath-Nots dynamic.

Card 3. Expensive Honey My most favourite statistic of all time. Hopefully makes you think about how we value things and knowing it makes honey taste even better.

Card 4. the Weight of Love I was touched by the stories in the news of bridges simply collapsing under the combined weight of thousands of padlocks attached by copycat romantics in cities like Paris, Rome and Maidenhead. I also have a personal vendetta against Paddle Boarders who I find noisy and splashy as they make their way up my beloved River Ouse. In a moment of mean-hearted weakness I allowed myself to imagine one of these bridges collapsing onto a Paddle Boarder and then thought by committing this wicked thought to paper I would be able to move on and become a better person.
