Claire Barclay studied at Glasgow School of Art, and is based at Glasgow Sculpture Studios and Glasgow Print Studio. She works predominantly with sculpture and print processes, and is recognised for her large-scale installations. Recent exhibitions include, ‘Tenuity’, at Stephen Friedman Gallery in August 2021, a commission for the Huntarian Art Gallery in 2018, and an ambitious solo exhibition ‘Yield Point’ for Tramway, Glasgow in 2017. In 2003 she represented Scotland at the Venice Biennale, with an installation at the Pilazzo Giustinian-Lolin. Her first retrospective ‘Openwide’ took place at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh in 2009.
