3. One-of-a-kind Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph

Designed in collaboration with Matthew Williams

The unique Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph combines the recognisable aesthetic codes of the Manufacture with Matthew Williams’ refined design touch.

This one-of-a-kind 41 mm timepiece has a two-tone case and bracelet, uniting 18-carat yellow gold and stainless steel. This marriage of materials is contrasted with a black PVD-coated gold dial, finished with vertical satin finishing. In an effort to make the aesthetics as clean and pure as possible, Matthew Williams and Audemars Piguet have reduced the dial to its simplest form, removing the hour-markers and going so far as to eliminate the chronograph and small seconds counters. Only the yellow gold hands rotate at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.

This minimalist dial thus highlights the double signatures of “Audemars Piguet” and “1017 ALYX 9SM”. The three central yellow gold hands, which are enhanced with luminescent coating for optimal readability in the dark, complete the design.

This contemporary timepiece is powered by the latest selfwinding integrated chronograph movement, Calibre 4409, which features a high-end column wheel and a flyback function that enables to instantaneously restart the chronograph without stopping or resetting it first.
