Bigger Pleasures
22 APRIL 2021 - 13 MAY 2021Notes
"Often, I find myself alone in the landscape, either by common coincidence or uncommon willpower. There, alone, with everything very much my own, I wonder: What’s to come? And in those moments, on the precipice between being, having been and will be, dreams collect invisibly their material for that night’s myth. Sometimes in sleep, ghosts reprise mistaken roles. At other times, somebody takes flight.
Drawing, painting, making anything, often seems impossible for me. The resources which I draw from aren’t quite suitable for creative practice; they contradict creativity, are a sort of crude material. I think that is why I’m a little stuck to my person and why the work gets stuck to me. It is something I wish to see myself in; however, that wish always ends up frustrated. " - Piers Inkpen, 2021
