Ceramics & Craft Studio Sale 2023 | Joely Clinkard

With a heavy focus on surface painting and texture, Joely's vivid ceramics evolve via collage and drawing, exploring themes around environment, humans and urban nature through intricate surface stories on clay. Slips, textures and glazes are layered up using a range of coloured clays as a dynamic canvas. The vessels created vessels portray in essence the experience of living in the city and that city being its own ecosystem, that ecosystem beautiful due to the unique humans, nature and landscape from which it is formed.


Education: Central Saint Martins 2013-2016. Upon graduating, she was nominated for the Central Saint Martins MullenLowe Nova Award and the Great Northern Graduates Award and has since exhibited with Plinth UK, London Design Festival, Bevere Gallery and The Mission Gallery amongst others.

With a passion for using clay and drawing as a tool for imagining, learning and sharing, she has worked on community and educational projects with organisations such as The Crafts Council and The William Morris Gallery.
