Cherry Lazar is a London based multidisciplinary collage artist. Aka. Self-professed neurotic control freak. From baking, fabric design, floristry to photography it all tickles her. As such everything you see in her work was made and photographed uniquely by her with no outsourcing. The tableaus are digitally pieced together from hundreds of images, printed upon Canvas, with background and details painted by hand. Other than art Cherry’s worked every job from designing costumes on blockbuster movies, playing snow white at Disneyland to working on a French farm with some very stinky goats. In her spare time, she enjoys long walks on the beach, dirty martinis in clean glasses, playing fetch with her hairless cat Elvira and wondering why aliens haven’t abducted her yet. She’s already packed.

I’ve been a monster fan of Hole for as long as I can remember. Berry, Heaven tonight and Violet are potentially responsible for what my work is today. You’ll need to check in with my mother whether that’s a good thing or not. Pretty on the Inside takes us back to the start and so this tableau is my response to teenage whores living with no limits. How to skirt excess in the overindulgent way only teenagers can. Sloppy little Marie Antoinette’s spreading their innocent legs for the fever dream of Hollywood. Not quite understanding the language of their own performance and yet playing their part as “pretty” well.  Cherry on top, the decadence of a Croquembouche cake, (Often served at baptisms and first communions according to fountain of knowledge Wikipedia) the antithesis to her punk ethics. But be warned if you try to grab her by the balls those Venus fly traps will bite back.
