26 APRIL 2024 - 10 MAY 202491. Annabel MacIver
Fall Like the Touch of Autumn VIII
Monoprint
41 x 53cm
Made as part of a series of 9 monoprints, "Fall Like the Touch of Autumn VIII' expresses the sense of quiet settling, fracturing and fading of emotions and memories with time. This work is part of a large body of work, Bird, consisting of over 50 pieces which considers many things, notably grief, loss, legacy and memory.
The work itself is an experimental monoprint, with a handmade plate that slowly disintegrates as it is drawn through the press with each turn. This causes an emboss and the ink and image to become fainter and more dispersed with each impression.

Notes
Annabel MacIver looks to the use of print as an expanded media, and uses many processes, both experimental and traditional to achieve her objectives. She is drawn to the lusciousness and depth of the marks made with print and the effect of this has on the paper and surfaces used. She also often uses it as a way to link other media such as ceramic sculpture or painting, and is currently investigating ways to combine these processes.
Annabel works across media, but print is one of her main areas of interest and she is currently enrolled in an MA in print at the Royal College of Art. A recently broken leg has put the final furlong on hold until next year, but she will continue with her work regardless. Ananbel is also a graduate from the Art Academy and has taught there since 2018.
