“This drawing samples decorative reference from the environment around my Norwich studio, including Tudor style pattern, charity shop glassware, lattice windows and cathedral cloister. These forms are simplified and composed as motifs within a geometric structure that might suggest a trellis or matrix. Adjacent is a form in which elements are assembled in a more free-style organic composition. This is one of a series that was made in the period between lockdowns last year. The city was opening up again and I wanted to explore my environment with a sense of optimism and possibility. I’ve used watercolour to compose translucent forms and porous structures in which light and air flow freely.” - Adam King, 2021
