Hera - Timed Auction
20 SEPTEMBER 2021 - 15 OCTOBER 2021Notes
People grapple loss in a multitude of ways, and my work seeks to identify the places of comfort that can be found in such trying experiences. I am intrigued by how our routines and habits shape the way we process distress. I examine this dynamic by exploring the mundane in domestic spaces, miscellaneous objects and the anonymous body. By doing this I choose to highlight what we might find comfort in, to bring significance to the things that others might just overlook. My work reflects on how the small things we fill with meaning become instrumental in helping us heal.
The cold and muted tones of the colour palette do not aim to underline the melancholy that can be found in loss, but rather the contentment of solitude. The dry and repetitive mark making is a crucial part of portraying the remedial nature of a routine.
