It's My House!

Nils Benson (b. 1966) has old ideas regarding the art and craft of painting, believing the role of good draughtsmanship, is of primary importance. He continues this long tradition in a stumbling research style concerning the Universal. 

His recent oil paintings on canvas crafted with a classical approach, defined by a signature cinematic vision in which light becomes a subject illuminating objects. His knowledge of light's physical qualities is informed by many years of work as a cinematographer. A crisis of tonality is evident in the use of colors and composition. 

The current body of work is inspired by the prints of Utagawa Hiroshima (1797 - 1858) One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
