It's My House!
09 OCTOBER 2022 - 31 OCTOBER 2022Notes
Niki Ford (b.1974) is a queer and non-binary artist that lives and works in Los Angeles and Landers, California. Ford earned their BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1997. They returned to drawing in 2019 and to clay in 2021 after two decades of working as a pedigreed cook and chef.
As stated by The Lodge, Los Angeles, “Experiencing Niki Ford's sculpture and drawing is an intoxicating journey. Ford's work is personal and honest. Revealing the figural in a liminal space. Their work is fortifying and transformative as we get to experience their faith in the process and the wonder that skill and honest self-reflection can inspire.”
Ford uses clay, earth, grit, sumi ink, glazes and even impressions of Joshua trees in the wet clay.
Recent exhibitions include: The Lodge, Los Angeles; Mojave Flea Trading Post, Palm Springs, Terence Koh: diary (in Terence’s online “community store” and shared recipe pages), Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York (group), Objects for Spiritual Use, Annex at M+B, Los Angeles (group) and GUT FRIENDS, curated by Ry Rocklen with the Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation, Ojai (group).
