Celina Chien is an artist & storyteller, combining her roles as an ecologist, award-winning photojournalist and actor to tell stories, harness empathy for change, and advocate for biodiversity in the Anthropocene. Her work is grounded in her background as a scientist and her kinship to nature, using art to extend the reaches of human empathy beyond our own species and stories.
Accolades:
Celina's latest exhibition, Leopard: Honouring the Muse, is an international collaboration between the artist, Dolce&Gabbana and the big cat conservation NGO Panthera. Her work is currently featured at the Dolce&Gabbana Old Bond St boutique in London, United Kingdom.
Celina is a TEDx speaker and serves on the board and council of numerous international NGOs such as Panthera, Rewriting Extinction, Reserva Youth Land Trust, Girls Who Click and more. In 2021, Celina placed in the 57th Wildlife Photographer of the Year and was awarded as a highly commended finalist, and in 2023, she will be on the judging panel of the same competition. Celina has a BSc in Biological Sciences (2020) and MRes in Tropical Forest Ecology (2021) from Imperial College London. She is now local to London after an upbringing in Italy and Switzerland with origins in the Netherlands and China.
