This watercolour is one of a series created in reaction to Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Remains of the Day.
Gareth Cadwallader is known for being a miniaturist painter of Realist portals: banal and familiar scenes that exist outside of specific space and time, held at a point of electric tension by neurotically rigorous formal consideration.
Gareth studied at the Royal College of Art and Slade School of Fine Art, London, and Hunter College, New York.
