More Heed - Timed Auction

I am currently working in the field of drawing and painting, experimenting with texture and form, exploring images from tv, film and books. My practice is anchored to expressing aspects of the queer experience as is lived today through the nostalgic figures I portray, whilst exploring the painterly touch from which they’re made. 

These are small paintings that I made during the first year of the Pandemic. They were the result of small exercises I conjured to allow me to interact with painting which was something I had fallen out of touch with. First, a strange little object made from studio scraps, which I sought to render in the still life tradition, then the idea of imaging and rendering a swamp. It seemed potent to me at the time, to try and capture a ‘swamp-scape’ as they meant for me, chaos, transformation and change. These paintings have undoubtedly had strong influence on what I am now pursuing.
