Notes

"Annotated for your pleasure, May 2023, :) Tina Fey"

Step into the legendary world of The Plastics and into the mind of the foremost comedic voice of a generation.

A cultural touchstone, Mean Girls began as a beloved film, while this celebrated musical adaptation took the cult classic to new heights.

Graced with the irreverent wit of none other than Tina Fey herself, this script is signed by the author and rich with over 70 pages worth of annotations that are chock full of laugh-out-loud humour as sharp as a Saturday Night Live sketch, and quirky illustrations that bring iconic friends and the infamous Burn Book to life.

One page is annotated opposite simply: "Here's a whole scene that's not in the movie!" Tina Fey points out a line that requires a change depending on the actor performing and whether they look more like a Danny Devito or a Gary Coleman or an Olivia Newton John: "It's a bit tricky to look at your actors and come up with a way to insult their appearance". "Hang in there!" Fey draws in big lettering towards the end, "You're nearly done reading this". Then in tiny: "Jesus Christ this script is long".

Included are customised prompts and a behind-the-scenes journey revealing never-before-seen glimpses into what inspired the original film, that only Tina Fey herself can guide you through.

Revel in Fey’s insightful personal reflections on the cultural phenomenon that is Mean Girls, and her disarmingly heartfelt takeaways on the human experience.

And if you're craving more, she’s even got you covered with a full New York Times Food recipe! In the spirit of generosity, Tina Fey has made a meaningful donation to The Trevor Project in honour of the lucky person who claims this annotated piece of comedic history.
