Notes

Ana Teles is an artist and White Conduit Projects' intern who assisted Yuki Miyake with Pacific Breeze II.

For this exhibition Teles transformed a Japanese sensu fan into a sculptural work that resembles a travelled mast and sail. The fan was covered in ultramarine pigment using Yves Klein's recipe for a greater concentration of pigment and to achieve a hypotonic colour. Ultramarine blue is the colour of the oceans, the sky, the corals, and the dyes that were brought from the East to the West by the Europeans for various purposes including to dye fabrics and make paint.

Teles holds degrees in Fine Art from the University of Porto and Chelsea College of Art, where she is currently finalising her practice-based PhD. Teles has exhibited internationally including the UK, the US, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
