“These were created during #lockdown1in the UK and follow the four part grounding breath, sometimes called the ‘box breath’ as you might want to visualise the four parts as a square or the flow of air into the lungs.” - Rod McIntosh, 2021
McIntosh’s current work as a mark-maker lies within the tradition of painting. With his body, the breath along with materials, and repetitive often-obsessive processes, focuses an attention to the present. Observing and recording the moment of creation, ink caught in the fibres of the paper
He speaks of them as, “Physical meditations, that offers himself, and the viewer, a moment to pause.”
