Notes

Beach is inspired by John Smith’s Bay, a favourite swim-spot of the Bermudian born artist Catherine White.

Intended to trigger a memory, this work focuses on the pleasure achieved in the simple act of lying on a beach and looking at the horizon. By paring down the view and highlighting key colours and textures, the artist allows the viewer to complete the image with their own memories and transport them to the secluded coves of a distant shoreline.
