Notes
“At times the work begins with a vague idea of place or subject, but that idea soon dissolves, and rarely do they become faithful depictions. Lockdown has changed my work and way of working dramatically, from being about the ideas I have of places unvisited to suddenly thinking about the landscape around me. Also, shrinking the work to a manageable size, working with more immediacy. As a result, I am no longer precious about the subjects that creep in and out, and letting things that are found within the process be present. They sit between imagination and observation, pairing the places and images found with pattern and colour. Finding ways of maybe glorifying the sometimes-unexciting landscape around me, a landscape that is close, but at the moment, feels unreachable.” - Katie Trick, 2021
