My work is heavily influenced by music; not just as a tool to get the creative juices flowing, but as inspiration for the composition of my works. When I was painting Chromatic Flux I was also reading Jan Swafford's brilliant new biography of Mozart: The Reign of Love. The way that Mozart took a theme and played with it over and over in subtly different forms and keys worked its way into the dance of lines on this work.
