Studio Sale | Scott Bauer
27 JUNE 2022 - 14 JULY 2022, Ended 11:00 AM (UK time)A Studio Sale of works of art direct from the studio of artist Scott Bauer.
Scott Bauer works in paint. His work utilises an abstract visual vocabulary of form and chromatic harmonies to distil specific responses to nature and music. Bauer’s work has evolved over the last few years from naturalistic, minimalist seascapes to linear abstraction but is always anchored in the natural world. Bauer’s work is often formatted as a grid, which serves as a harmonic structure for his work, with bands of colour and form spread across the picture plane. Bauer works in an entirely abstract visual vernacular, but the works are always rooted in particular sensory experiences; the play of light and colour at the horizon at dusk or a theme-and-variation in a piece of music, might serve as inspiration and starting-off point for a particular work of art.
In this sale, some of the evolution in Bauer’s work can be traced from more naturalistic paintings dating to a few years ago to recent works that are wholly abstract.
Bauer lives and works in London. He graduated from Rutgers College and the Mason Gross School for the Arts, Rutgers University, with a dual degree in Art History and Visual Art. For years he worked in the arts as a specialist at Sotheby’s, a curator for a private collector and as a gallery director. It was only a few years ago that Bauer decided what he really wanted to do was make a career as a visual artist. Since embarking on his career as an artist, Bauer has exhibited at The Other Art Fair, Studio 73 and Wyecliffe Galleries. He has participated in auctions with The Auction Collective, Saatchi Art and AucArt. Bauer’s work can be found in collections on at least four continents as of this writing.
