Shelby is inspired by stripes on racing cars, filled with dynamic energetic marks that echo the excitement of catching the perfect wave.
Simon Williams
Feeding upon the swath of visual material accessible in the digital age, Simon William’s panting’s draw inspiration from many sources most notably graffiti, propaganda posters, advertising/ packaging and comic books. Simon has exhibited widely, in 2016 he curated an exhibition ‘After Illusion’ which brought together six prominent Abstract painters of the South West. In the same year , he was included in the prestigious ‘John Moore’s Painting Prize’ held at the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool.
Simon is a remarkably inventive artist and has maintained a parallel working life as an artist and designer in the film industry. He has worked with companies from Spitting Image to Jim Henson’s Creature Shop and has created Animatronic creatures and effects on many high profile films, from Harry Potter to Star Wars. His approach to exploring painting, processes and materials echoes the time he has spent as a Designer in the film industry.
William’s works from his studio in the historic Porthmeor studios in St Ives in Cornwall and also runs a course Exploring Abstraction at Newlyn Art School.
